Ecotage Revolution: 02/23/10

Welcome to the 'Tage!

For those of you that have never heard of this crazy term "ecotage", it was first coined during the late 1970's by the influence of a radical environmental advocacy group called Earth First!
It connotates the idea of sabbotage (also coined "monkey wrenching"), or committing acts of civil disobedience to make an environmental statement. While I enjoy reading about the groups and stories of people that have committed these acts, I have a slightly different idea in mind of what ecotage is. Ecotage to me is the opportunity to defend our environment from its destruction by man, with sabbotage viewed in a positive way rather than the oftentimes synonomous 'civil disobedience' negative way. In this light, I vow to pick up trash whenever it crosses my path, as well as larger scale motives such as lobbying for issues that mean the most. Overall, engaging in acts that do not hurt others but instead do what is best for the planet first and foremost and the people in it. We are all in this together, let's keep the environmental revolution a flowin'!
